We are looking forward to some of our best weather yet for the 8th Annual Shuffle! After reading this you should be equipped with everything you need to know for Saturday’s Shamrock Shuffle. Race begins at 10:00am. Mini Shuffle (12 and under) at 9:00am.
It’s looking dry and warmer than last year but we know you are hearty New Englanders and the race goes on despite the presence of that white stuff. We are fortunate to have an entire school to use for you to stay comfortable.
Bib Number and Race Bag Pick Up
Friday from 4-6 at Polk School, 435 Buckingham Street, Oakville CT- Please note that new pick up time!
Saturday doors open by 8:00am
Please double check you are leaving with the correct bag.
Can I pick up someone else’s bag? Hot topic. As a courtesy we have allowed this in the past and will continue to do so- within reason. Please communicate with the person whose bag you are picking up to let them know you are doing so. Be patient and be prepared to be accountable for another persons race bag.
*Please see a Shuffle volunteer in the gym race morning if for any reason you are switching from one race to another. This helps us get accurate results.
*There are numerous bathrooms available inside Polk School and feel free to leave your belongings in the cafeteria during the race.
Plenty of parking available around the school on numerous side streets as well as across the street at Gateway Bible Church, 500 Buckingham Street. Limited parking at Ordinary Joe’s, 253 Buckingham Street, Oakville.
Parking down by the post race party (a short walk to the race headquarters) at:
St. Mary Magdalen School, 140 Buckingham Street, Oakville.
Union Congregational Church, 161 Buckingham Street, Oakville.
There will be road closures and delays so please plan accordingly. Thumbs up for carpooling.
Race begins at 10:00.
Kids race (12 and under) is at 9:00. Start is in the lower lot on the Buckingham Street side.
Mini Shuffle Awards around 9:30, followed by Costume Awards
National Anthem around 9:55
Awards- aiming for around 11:15- all awards will happen around the finish line area, weather permitting. Keep your ears open for announcements.
Post Race Party- at Ordinary Joe’s, begins when you get there! This is where you get your brat and beverage. Please bring your ID.
Fast Track Timing will be with us for the day. We will post results online. Visit their iPad kiosk where you can print your individual result. Don’t forget to punch your race number into the clock and snap your picture with your name and finish time too! There is a start mat, official results/awards are based on gun time, so line up accordingly.

NO registrations will be accepted after 9:45.
Please have checks made out and ready to ‘Watertown Recreation”. Cash works too. $35. Mini Shuffle is $20.
Odd and Ends
NO dogs on the course.
NO refunds. All goes to a good cause if you stay home!
Don’t forget to join us at Ordinary Joe’s for the post race festivities. The Joe Morgan Band will be there, come turn in your drink coupon.
